a little late….

but here are some shots from our Easter Sunday.

The service was held out on our church property.

Remember this post – our ‘clean up day’?

There is always a lot of work that goes into setting up our church every Sunday morning, since we are sort of a ‘portable’ church (at the moment). Sundays that are held outside on our property, however, require even more work.

It’s totally worth it, though.

There’s just something awesome about worshipping God outside.

I wish I had gotten more shots of the actual service (the shot above was just practice) but I was busy teaching these little kiddos…

…which was a job and a half.

After the service there was a potluck (like you do) and some egg shenanigans.

Once Chris and I thought we had spent enough time sweating with the eggs in the sun, we headed to my parent’s house. They weren’t able to attend their church’s Sunday service, seeing as how my mom recently had someone else’s organ stuffed into her body.

It was nice to see them and I was able to help my mom do a few things she’d been wanting to but couldn’t – mostly, put some plants and flowers into the ground. She is banned from gardening (more specifically, touching dirt) for a while because of her weakened immune system.

Let’s hope a green thumb is something you can learn, and not something you have to be born with…because I definitely didn’t get my parent’s gardening genes.

A Television Hiatus

About a week ago (last Sunday to be exact) Chris and I decided to give up watching TV for a week.

I know, I know… I haven’t been able to spend my mornings with Robin Meade from HLN.

( on a side note, I’m pretty sure we would be best friends

if she knew I existed.   Pretty sure of that.  )

Anyway, since the tv hasn’t been on we have been forced to actually talk to each other during dinner – imagine that! It has been really nice, actually, to re-connect. We are both so tired after long workdays that we typically don’t spend ‘quality time’ with one another until the weekend.

This week, though, we have had to find other ways to entertain ourselves, and discussion over dinner several nights this week has morphed into some sort of pop quiz on trivia regarding the important things in life – such as the names of minor characters in Disney movies.

1. What was the name of the two mice on Cinderella?

2. What was the name of the candlestick in Beauty and the Beast?

3. What is sleeping beauty’s real name?

4. What is the name of Jasmine’s pet tiger?

5. Who are the rescuers?

6. Can you name all of the animals and the boy in the Jungle Book?

7. Who is the monkey in the Lion King?

This went on for some time, until Chris finally realized he’d been beaten and I am that master of this type of trivia. Honestly, I’m not sure how I remembered all of these….and the list continued too! I haven’t even seen these movies in years.  image

answers (in case you’re curious): Jaq and Gus, Lumiere, Aurora, Rajah, Bernard and Bianca, Baloo (bear), Bagira (panther), Shere Khan (tiger), Mowgli (boy), King Louie (The monkey king), Rafiki.

All of this Disney reminiscing of course lead to actually attempting to act out some scenes in movies with our poor, innocent little pup.

IMG_4566 ”on the day we arrived on the planet,

and blinking, stepped into the sun”

then comes the choir singing that chanting stuff, which nobody actually knows the words to

doobie dada be some nome be dee see wah,

doobie dadda me wah sana noma

I usually throw some homina homina’s in there as well, just for good measure.

Baxter could totally pass for a lion cub.

If you need a smile…

pictures of kiddos are always good for warming my heart, so I thought I’d share.

I’ve been meaning to share these pictures for a long time. They have been lost in the masses of photos in my Picasa files.  Occasionally, I will just browse through the files and this kiddo always makes me smile. Hunter is the sweet little boy of one of my best friend’s, Tiffany. IMG_2643

love this monster hat.

Tiffany and I met up with our friend, Devyn, for lunch today…which reminded me, once again, of all of the photos of their kiddos that I have taken but haven’t shared with them!

The only boy out to lunch with 4 girls

Maybe we should have tried to take photos at the beginning of the lunch date because by this point, they were totally over it. Well, 1 out of 3 looking at the camera is as good as it gets.IMG_4249

Haha, Tiffany, I’ll put a disclaimer in here regarding that bruise*.

*No, you do not need to call CPS for that bruise on Hunter’s cheek. Yes, he is just a less-than-one-year-old who is learning to pull up on furniture.

Can’t wait to meet Devyn’s second little kiddo, Clara, when she arrives in a few months.

I just wanna nibble on those cheeks. Love you, little man!
